What they learn:
45 minutes: Safety, Horse care- grooming, cleaning and feeding, Tack & basic horse parts
45 minutes: Lesson in arena
Horseback Riding Patch
Daisies & Cub Scouts
*Boy Scouts may participate but do not earn a patch*
Length: 60 minutes
$50/participant
What they learn:
30 minutes: Safety, Horse care- grooming, cleaning and feeding, Tack and horse parts, Breeds & history
30 minutes: lesson in the arena
Horsemanship Merit Badge
Seniors, Ambassadors & Boy Scouts
Length: 60 minute classes, 4-10 lessons with homework, amount of classes determined by progress
Price per participant: $80/class
What they learn:
Safety precautions around a horse and at a barn
Body parts, breeds, colors, confirmation and history of horses
Health problems and symptoms including colic and lameness
Grooming, feeding & equipment
Approaching, leading and tying a horse
Riding a horse at the walk and trot
